Today, I'm gonna talk about “Green Growth" with you. July 12th marks this year’s national low - carbon day in China. Mao Ning, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman referred to that, China sees lucid and Iush mountains as humanity's invaluable assets. Ecological conservation is an important priority and we commit to green and low-carbon development. And "Green Growth” has been a high-frequency expression in recent years.
Speaking of the word "Green”, my beautiful hometown the city where spring always lives- Xichang Liangshan occurs to my mind. There, it is the biggest urban wetland Park in china. And there is a just finished marathon competition on November 18th-Xichang Qonghai wetland marathon competition. Sportsmen from more than ten different countries came there and joined it. People who joined the competition speak highly of Xi Chang's pleasant weather and fresh air. They say that it gives them wonderful marathon experience. However, in the past few years, people's eagerness to develop economy fast, some industries were introduced. Undoubtedly, people's living standards have been improved greatly, but the environment was seriously polluted in some places accordingly. Iron and steel factories inside the city polluted the air and had a great influence on people's daily life. The houses, cars, clothes, even everything around the factories are always coated with thin ash, cutting people’s throats all the time, so that people couldn’t breathe freely.
What I mentioned above was the past. So, how it seems today? It’s more livable and much cleaner. It is the government’s quick reaction, practical policies and people's positive responses that have brought today's Xi Chang. Vast wetland not only protects the biodiversity, stability and sustainability, but has also been improved people’s living environment greatly; it's win-win on both sides.
As we all know, our country has been pursuing fast development as well as high quality. In the meanwhile, our country has attached great importance to '’Green Growth’’. We are in pursuit of sustainable development in all aspects.
As we can see, new energy vehicles have become more and more popular; wind power and solar power have been made full use of in many Places of Liang Shan, which reduce air pollution and lower the living- cost profoundly.
We are so fortunate that we grow up in great times with ample opportunities. So as the teenagers of this new era, how can we make the most of these opportunities to be a greener person, and to make a greener world? Just as Chairman Xi Jinping says, the hope of a country and the future of a nation lie in the hands of its young generations. We young college students should shoulder all the missions responsibly. We should never forget our original aspiration and founding missions. Should we be aspirant? —Yes. Should we be confident and brave? —Yes. And can we try our best to make great contributions to this wonderful society? —of course, yes. Can we promote Green Growth, to make a better and greener world together? —Yes，we can, and we must.
